Welcome to the Rock Report
Every family we work with tells us the same thing: nobody explains how any of this actually works. The recruiting process. Camp season. Transfer portal timelines. NIL. Academic eligibility. Financial aid. What to ask a coach. What red flags to watch for.
For families in American Samoa, Hawaii, and across the Pacific, the gap is even wider. The mainland recruiting machine assumes families have access to information they’ve never been given. Missed deadlines. Missed camps. Missed conversations that could have changed everything.
What the Rock Report is for
We started Kid From The Rock to close that gap. The Rock Report is where we write it down.
Every article here will do one of three things:
- Teach something specific. How camps work. What a Power 4 coach actually looks for in a highlight tape. What questions to ask before signing.
- Tell a story. Families we’ve walked with. Alumni chapters. Wins and hard lessons alike.
- Say something plainly. When something matters and nobody else is saying it, we will.
Who this is for
If you’re a parent wondering whether your son or daughter has a real shot — start here.
If you’re a student-athlete trying to figure out where to start — start here.
If you’re a coach, mentor, or partner trying to understand what these families are navigating — start here too.
We’ll publish regularly. Some pieces will be long. Some will be short. All will be honest.
Welcome to the Rock Report.
